William served as a 2nd Lt., U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Washington County, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Maryland National Guard on February 3, 1941, prior to the war, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Tailor and also as Single, without dependents.

William died in the "Line Of Duty" as a result of a non-battle related incident during the war.

Served with the 337th Base Unit, Venice Army Airfield, Florida.

Killed piloting P-40N Warhawk #44-7078 when an engine failure caused his pursuit fighter to crash into the Gulf of Mexico, shortly after takeoff from the airfield.
