Lucille J. Manders
Mrs. Alfred A. (Lucille J.) Manders, 78, of 2634 Pinard St., died Sunday morning, Feb. 15, 2004, at home, of natural causes.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be the parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.
Mrs. Manders was formerly employed at the Dubuque Packing Co., and later at Dubuque Stamping and Mfg. Co. She was then employed in housekeeping for Sacred Heart Parish until her retirement.
She was born on Jan. 4, 1926, in Dubuque, daughter of Albert L. and Violet M. (Hartnett) Burrows. She married Alfred A. Manders on Oct. 5, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on April 28, 1995.
Lucille was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and Rosary Society.
She enjoyed cooking and gardening and being outdoors. Lucille was an avid Cubs fan and was a collector of angels.
She lived life to the fullest and was always ready to go and do anything. She was eager to help anyone and was most happy to be with her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa M. (Steven) Kieler, of Cuba City, Wis.; two sons, George A. Manders, of Florida, and Albert J. (Mary) Manders, of Dubuque; five grandchildren, Abraham J., Jane Anne, Isaac J. and Joshua J. Manders and Alexander Kieler; two sisters, Hazel Rennison and Genevieve (Robert) Timmerman, both of Dubuque; a brother, Don (Joyce) Burrows, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Carol Burrows, of Downers Grove, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Richard Duddeck, of Dubuque; and nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob A. Manders; three sisters, Lenice "Pepper" Kingsley, Catherine Ernzen and Yvonne Duddeck; and three brothers, Clarence, Clyde and Harold Burrows.
A Lucille J. Manders Memorial Fund has been established.
