Friends of Thomas H. Artress of
Lorain were sorry :o hear of
his death -which occurred ai his
home at 1902 Lexiag;oa ave., in
Lorain late last Mocdsy at the
age of 76 years. following a
lingering illness. He was born
in England and came to this country
when ten years old with his
parents who settled ia Grafton.
He conducted a blacksmith shop
at this place for sometime before
moving to Lorain forty years ago-
There he established a hardware
store where the Sm:th and Bickel
store now sttsds. This he
sold in 1902 and then operated a
garage and automobile agency until
1915 when he retired. Mr.
Artress was affiliated with the
Masons and Koiman iodge and
Knights of Pythias. He is survived
by his wife, Mrs. Ida Ackley
Artress and several nieces and
nephews in Cleveland, Willard,
Elyria and Lorain- The funeral
services -were conducted with Masonic
rites at 2 p. m-. Thursday
at the residence. Rer. F. E.
Wolfe, pastor of the 20th M. E.
church officiated and interment
was in the Ridgelawn cemetery in
Elyria.
