Johann Friedrich Keuper, known by Fredrick by locals, was born on June 10, 1780, in Thalfang, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. His father was Johann Michael Keuper, age 35 and his mother was Elisabetha Barbara Schmidt, age 38. Frederick married Elisabetha Katharina Thomas on July 27, 1804. They had two children during their marriage, Johann Frederick and Maria Dorothea. Frederick was a blacksmith by trade. He died on December 29, 1870, in Burlington, Wisconsin, at the age of 90. He could possibly be buried in Old Burlington Cemetery with his wife Elizabeth up on the hill, but is most likely buried in one of the Unknown Keuper plots in the new Burlington Cemetery.
