William Franklin Thompson/b: February 12, 1839/Camden, Benton County, Tennessee.

Son of: Willis C. Thompson(Merchant on Tenn. River @ Camden,Benton County, Tennessee.) & Rebecca Thompson.

William enlisted in the Confederacy on June 4, 1861 at Camp Brown, Union City, Obion County, Tennessee/Sworn into service by Colonel W. E. Travis, under Captain J.T. Winfrey's Company. This Company was known as Company "M", "Men from Benton County, Tennessee." On May 6,1882, Company "M" became 2nd Company "H".

April 6, 1862 the unit faced Union General U. S. Grant's troops at Pittsburg Landing on the Tennessee River

William F. Thompson was still being recorded as present on the 5th Regiment's Muster Roll's until December 26, 1862.

William Franklin Thompson married: Artimissa M. Poe on January 10, 1864. William & Artimissa were the parents of 8 children.

William Franklin Thompson became a minister for the Disciple Of Christ.

William & Artimissa moved to Altamont, Labette Co., Kansas. Artimissa died at Altamont. William married 2 more times. His 3rd wife was: Melissa Elizabeth Turner

William died in Coffeyville, Montgomery Co., Kansas from double pneumonia.

William was married three times. His 1st wife was Artimissa Mae Poe, married on 09 Jan 1864 in Benton County, Tennessee. Artimissa was born on 22 Dec 1841, TN and died on 04 Jul 1885 in Altamont, Labette Co., Kansas. William's 2nd wife name is unknown, but William stated she was mean to his children and divorced her soon after. William's 3rd & last wife was Melissa Elizabeth Turner.
