On November 12, 1941, Ruth married Paul Brest Wilson, also of Sharon. Following Paul's service as a junior officer in the Navy during the second World War, they re-located to Massachusetts where they resided thereafter, except for a five-year period in white Plains, New York. They spent their winters in Palm City, Florida. Ruth and Paul were both enthusiastic golfers, and also enjoyed playing bridge and entertaining their many close friends. They were members of the Dedham Country Club for over fifty years.
Ruth was pre-deceased by her parents; by her husband in 2011 after seventy years of marriage; by her brothers Philip Diehl and Carl W. Diehl, Jr; by her sisters Sarah Miller and Dorothy Cullis; and by her son-in-law Richard P. Caruso. She is survived by her two children, Judith Lynn Caruso of Westwood, Massachusetts, and Geoffrey Alan Wilson of Bernardston, Massachusetts and his muse, Eve Blakeslee of Charlemont, Massachusetts; by her two granddaughters, Katharine Ruth Wilson and her husband, Andrew Wertz, of Seymour, Connecticut, and Anne Gardner Wilson of Amherst, Massachusetts; by her two great-grandsons, Samuel David Wertz and Jacob Wilson Wertz, both of Seymour, Connecticut; by her youngest sister, Martha Goethe of Olmstead Falls, Ohio; and by numerous nieces and nephew, and their progeny.
