She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on October 4, 1935 to Charlie and Blanche Redden. She graduated from Gibbs High School, class of 1953, where she and her sister were cheerleaders together. She was active in the music and drama programs at the school. She attended North Knoxville Baptist Church with her family and became a well known, sought-after, soprano soloist. On February 18, 1955, she married James T. Fry, Jr. and they were married for 61 years. In 1963, they and their three children, moved to Jacksonville, Florida where they became faithful members of Murray Hill Presbyterian Church. Because of her love of music, she was an active choir member, children's choir director and member of the handbell choir. She also served on the Session and with the Women of the Church. In addition to serving at her church, she was also the church secretary for many years. She passed on her love of music to her three children and at Ed White High School, she served as President of the Choral Parents and enjoyed watching her sons sing in the chorus and her daughter play piano for the chorus.
She is predeceased by her husband, James T. Fry, Jr.; her son, Richard A. Fry; and daughter, Melody F. Jones. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn R. Asbury (Ron); son, Charles T. Fry (Candie); grandchildren Tim Fry (Katie), Craig Fry (Kristen), Jimmy Jones (Marissa), Christa Fry, Catie Fry, Jason Jones (Whitney), Aaron Jones; and great-grandchildren Ava Fry, Makaila Fry, Thomas Fry, Addie Jones, William Fry and Evie Jones.
