Annie Ross Hudgins

ANNIE ROSS HUDGINS was born to the late Willie Ross and Sophia Hicks Ross on February 14, 1925, in the Elams Community of Littleton, North Carolina. She transitioned to her Heavenly home on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at 10:37 P.M. in the serenity of her home in the Lake Gaston Community of Littleton, North Carolina.
During her early life, she was baptized and joined the Elams Christian Church in the Elams community where she was a dedicated member. After relocating to Washington, DC, she became a member of the Second New St. Paul Baptist Church. Annie was one of the original members of the E.L. Williams Concert Choir, and also served in the Boy Scouts of America, Camp Fire Girls, and the Missionary Ministry. She was on the committee to decorate the Parsonage, and made all of the custom draperies and bedspreads in the parsonage.
Annie received her formal education in the public school system of Warren County, North Carolina, and graduated from the former John R. Hawkins High School in Warrenton, North Carolina. She then attended St. Paul College in Lawrenceville, Virginia, with a major in Interior Design.
On June 30, 1950, Annie was united in Holy Matrimony to Charlie Floyd Hudgins, who preceded her in death. God blessed this union with four daughters and two sons.
After her last child started school, she became employed with Kahall Interiors in North West Washington, DC, making custom draperies and bedspreads. After working there for several years, she started her own custom drapery and bedspread business in the basement of her home.
Upon her husband's retirement in 1990, they returned to Lake Gaston. She then restored her membership at Elams Chapel United Church of Christ, where she was active in the Missionary Ministry and organized the first Prayer Breakfast ever held at the church. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #425, Littleton, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, James, Fred, William, and Louis Ross; and two grandsons, Ronald Watts and Malcolm Hudgins.
Those remaining to forever cherish her love and precious memories are her four daughters, Joyce Hudgins and Jeannette Hudgins of Hyattsville, MD, and Wanda Lott (Rev. Dr. Eugene), and Debora Lott (Bernard) all of Littleton, NC; two sons, Charles F. Hudgins, Jr. (Kellie) of Temple Hills, MD, and Henry Ross Hudgins (Shonda) of Boyds, MD; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Hill and Esther J. Baker (Roosevelt); one brother, Rev. Dr. Ulysses Ross (Christine); six other sisters-in-law, Beatrice Jennings, Viola Brown, Vivian Hogan, Elizabeth Ross, Ella Ross, and Mae Ross; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Elams Chapel United Church of Christ in Littleton, NC. Rev. Dr. Ulysses Ross will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Greater Lovely Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Mountain View Road, Macon, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home until 8:30 P.M. on Friday, July 14, 2017, and at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
