Mr ARTHUR L. HIGGISON The death occurred on Wednesday 10th July, of Mr Arthur Louis Higgison, a well-known and highly respected resident of Brightwater. Mr Higgison was born in Greytown 56 years ago and was a Baker by trade. He came to Nelson about 20 years ago under engagement to Messrs Freeman and Sons, Bakers, Nelson. When a branch was formed in Brightwater he was selected as foreman and retained that position for about 10 years until compelled by failing health to retire.
The late Mr Higgison took a keen interest in all sports, especially Rugby football and very few games were played at Brightwater without his presence. He was also one of New Zealand's leading amateur billiard players and put up a very creditable performance in Nelson against the world's champion, Clark McConachy, who toured New Zealand some years ago.
A large circle of friends will regret his passing. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and seven sons:- Mrs Roden (Waimea West), Miss Pappy Higgison and Messrs Ray, Trevor, Bernard, Ivan, Claude, Jack and Kenneth. The second son, Trevor, is now on active service in England.
FUNERAL NOTICE
The friends of the late Arthur Louis Higgison are invited to attend his funeral which will leave his late residence, Brightwater, to-morrow (Friday) Afternoon at 2 o'clock, for the Brightwater Cemetery
