Harry M. Thomas Jr., 87, of Van Wert, died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born October 28, 1922, in Ohio City, the son of the late Harry Thomas Sr. and Maude (Krugh) Thomas.

He married Phyllis (Hargreave) Thomas, who survives in Van Wert.

Mr. Thomas had been an employee of the former Aeroquip Corporation. He also belonged to American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert and participated in 355th Fighter Group reunions.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Hugh David (Mary) Thomas of Hamilton; Carol Lynn Thomas of Lima and Julie Thomas of Van Wert; three sisters, Sharon Coleman of Van Wert, Jean (Roscoe) Abbott of Convoy and Patricia Thatcher of Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Eric David (Julie) Thomas of Monroe and Megan Lindsay Thomas of Baton Rouge, La.

Four brothers, Buford, Max, Lowell and Donald Thomas, and a sister, Montella Coleman, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, September 10, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Jay Nesselroad officiating.

Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Community Health Professionals-Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
