Joan H. Schwab, 89, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023.

She was born in Ballston Spa, New York on March 13, 1934, to Dr. Harry and Ada Hansen.

She was a graduate of Ballston Spa High School.

Joan was an operating room technician at Ellis Hospital for several years.

After their retirement, Joan and her husband Will enjoyed living in their home on Lake George for many years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ballston Spa.

Joan was a member of the American Kennel Club for most of her adult life. She showed her four Norfolk Terriers and volunteered for decades as a ring steward for area dog shows.

Joan loved the company of her large family, her dogs, books, and doing her counted cross stitch.

In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband Dr. William H. Schwab, stepsons William Schwab (Jane) and Thomas Schwab, sisters Jean Dokken and Mary Lou Peck and her former husband and friend John "Jack" Wilson.

Joan is survived by her brother Dr. Peter Hansen (Elizabeth), children Kathleen Cleary (Robert), Patricia Green (Charles), Diane Streit (John), Janice Alvord (Todd), Peter Wilson, and Linda Gawrys (Jeffrey), stepchildren George Schwab, Marjorie Schwab (Wayne Gervais), and Susanne Drake (John), 21 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Burial to follow in the Ballston Spa Cemetery.
