A resident of Independence, LA, Dwayne passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Independence, LA.

He leaves to Cherish his memory his daughter, Kaci Misita Guidry and husband, Bennett Guidry; son, Nicholas Misita; mother, Sylvia Thompson Misita; sister, Susan Misita Petty and husband, Spurgeon; brothers, John Michael Misita and wife, Cindy and Andy Misita; grandchildren, Benjamin and Marcelle Guidry and Landon Misita; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was Preceded in death by his father, Coach Tony Misita; sister, Toni Lynn Misita.

Dwayne Thomas Misita was a native of Independence, LA and resident of Lafayette, LA for 20 years.

Dwayne graduated from Amite High School in 1977 and soon began working for Acadian Ambulance as a flight paramedic. Dwayne was given many accolades for his service with Acadian Ambulance. He moved onto the Oilfield working for Marino and Associates for several years before starting his own company, Global Logistics LLC.

Dwayne was an avid golfer participating in numerous tournaments even receiving a trophy for a score of 63. He enjoyed hunting in Forked Island with his Father in law and brother in laws and fishing with friends and family when back home in Independence. He loved most to spend time outdoors on the weekends with his children playing his favorite music Eric Clapton, Jimmy Buffett, Tim McGraw, Bob Seger to name a few while gardening or hitting golf balls with his children and hosting neighborhood bar b ques at night. But nothing lit up his face like his grandchildren Benjamin Louis Guidry, Marcelle Jane Guidry, & Landon Ryan Misita.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Melissa, Letha, Cindy, Sue, Joe, Dave, Sakira, Bridget, Miesha, Yoggy and all who took care of and loved Dwayne in his 8 years with Legacy Nursing home.

As well as a huge thank you to Britney with Interim Hospice care who was an Angel sent to care for Dad and us during his last days, we could not have done it without you.

A Rosary will be said by Deacon Stephen Ourso at McKneely Funeral Home at 10:00AM.

Visitation will begin at 10:30AM and the service will be at 12:00PM on Wednesday December 28, 2022. Interment Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite, LA.
