Gloria May Cronin
May 21, 1933 - August 8, 2023

Gloria May Cronin was born May 21, 1933, in Los Angeles, California. She was the youngest of 5 children; 3 sisters (one deceased) and 1 brother, born to William Virgil Malquist and Louise Adams Malquist. Gloria was born 16 years after the oldest sibling so as such, grew up pretty much an only child but was very close to her 3 nieces, Becky, Kay, and Evon. She attended schools in her early years in Los Angeles, then Gage Jr High and the South Gate High, where she was active in Music, ramblerettes, and taking business classes where she excelled in typing and shorthand.

Gloria had many friends that she cherished and stayed in contact with for 75 years. She also attended and was very active in her church group at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She began putting her business skills to work after high school in 1953. In that same year, after going to a church basketball game, she met our father Donald Joseph Cronin, who was serving in the US Navy in Long Beach but grew up in the state of Mississippi. After meeting at a church basketball game and attending a birthday party together, they were married 5 weeks later in Huntington Park, California. Soon they welcomed 6 children: son Rick Donald (deceased), daughter Dianne Lorraine, son Jay Lawrence, daughter Karem Maureen, son Duane Roscoe, and daughter Tarina Mae.

Through the years she worked off and on as a legal secretary for several big-name companies, but it was our parents' dream to have their own construction business. There were many moves made from California and Mississippi over our lifetime. They eventually grew and opened their own construction companies called Cronin Construction and later Homes by Gloria in the states of California, Washington, Mississippi, Arizona, and Utah. Over the years there were many wonderful Vacations and family gatherings but the greatest of the blessings was the family that she cherished. Gloria leaves behind 6 children (one deceased), 22 grandchildren (one deceased), 57 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren (one deceased). Our mother and father have remained married for 70 years but sadly she lost her husband and eternal companion in December of 2017. Gloria has remained a faithful servant of our Heavenly Father all of her life but sadly returned home August 8, 2023, to her loving husband Don, son Rick Donald, grandson Kyle Donald, great-great granddaughter Hadley Nicole and all of her extended family. She is forever loved and will be missed.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the La Verkin Stake Center. A viewing will be held prior to services from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery.
