Last rites for Mrs. Ida A. Smith were held Tuesday afternoon, July 22nd, at four o'clock at Bluff Springs church. Services were conducted by her former presiding elder, the Rev. E. S. Lewis of Durant, and assisting were the Rev. J. B. Flowers of the Baptist Church, and the Rev. G. L. Lowry of the Methodist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Lee Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Smith, who was seventy-nine years of age, passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Addie Bailey of Winona. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Porter Adams, pioneer settlers of the Huntsville community. She married George L. Smith and lived in the Bluff Springs community until his death in 1933. Since that time she has made her home in Winona with her sister, Mrs. Bailey.
The deceased was a devout member of the Bluff Springs Methodist Church where her husband was superintendent of the Sunday School for more than forty years. She retained membership at Bluff Springs and attended nearly every service there.
Besides her sister, she leaves one daughter, Miss Addie Lou Smith of Winona; one step-daughter, Mrs. Tobe Moore of Coila, and four step-sons, Walter W. Smith of Winona, Jim Smith of Isola and Lee and Wilse Smith of Money.
