Mrs. Edith Octavia Tye Osborn, wife of George A. Osborn, of 317 Grant avenue, Highland Park, died Saturday at her home after a lingering illness. Mrs. Osborn was born at Haysville, Ontario, Canada, and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Tye. She was a graduate of the Orange Memorial Hospital and was very much interested in Rutgers University activities and the Red Cross. She was a member of the Protestant Episcopal Church. Mrs. Osborn had lived in this city and Highland Park for the past 41 years. Besides her husband, who has held the post of librarian at Rutgers University for the past 50 years, Mrs. Osborn is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Agnes Crawford, of Highland Park; Mrs. S. Carlton Stevens of South River; four grandchildren; a brother, Howard Tye of Edmonton, Alberta, Can., two sisters, Mrs. Peter Arnott, of Ballingal, Galt, Can., and Miss Alice W. Tye, of Toronto, Can. The funeral will be held from the Osborn home, Highland Park, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Walter E. Stowe, assisted by the Rev. Dr. William H. S. Demarest. Interment will be in Elmwood cemetery, under the direction of Undertaker William H. Quackenboss and Son.
