Abigail Mae Messersmith, 17, of Tunkhannock, passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023, in Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton.

Abigail Mae Messersmith was born Aug. 17, 2005, in Wilkes-Barre, to Donald L. Messersmith and Teri Fell. Abby was the most beautiful girl with the largest personality in the smallest package. She was a student at Tunkhannock Area High School. She would have been entering her senior year in a few weeks. She was an artist who loved nature and animals of all kinds. She was best known for her ability to light up every room and to make everyone around her smile. Her laugh was infectious and matched her goofball sense of humor. She was the kind of friend who would be there when you needed her and was always up for an adventure. She loved with her whole heart. She will be missed daily by everyone who had the opportunity to meet her.

Abby is survived by her parents; her bonus mother, Amy Derby, Dallas; bonus father, Matt Karhnak; siblings, Devin Messersmith and Charisma Fell; and grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Nulton Kopcza Funeral Home, 5749 state route 309, Monroe Twp.
