Eleanor Janice 'Jan' Clarke Bailey, age 86 of Pinson, TN passed away August 14, 2023 at her home after a long illness.
Services will take place Thursday, August 17 at George A. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. Visitation with the family will take place Thursday 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The funeral will be at 1:00 pm with burial following at Roger's Cemetery in Pinson.
Jan was born February 24, 1937 in Cedar Grove, TN to James Carmen Clarke and Bertha Mae Oakley Clarke. She attended Clarke Elementary School and graduated from Trezevant High School in 1954. She was a member of Pleasant Hill and later Pinson Methodist Churches.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years Hubert F 'Bill' Bailey. Also surviving are their children Timothy Bailey and Tony Bailey, both of Pinson and Teresa Bailey Freeman (Hal) of Jackson. Jan lived her life as a devoted Christian, wife, mother, sister, and friend. Many will remember her as the talented wedding coordinator and cake decorator of Special Touch Wedding Services.
Besides her parents, Jan is preceded in death by brothers Edward, Carmen, Bill, and Jimmy Dean Clarke; sisters, Evelyn Clarke, Eloise Gardulski, Doris Walls, and Jean Martin. She is survived by sister Jessie Scott of Cedar Grove.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to either St Jude Children's Hospital or The Hospice Home through the West Tennessee Healthcare Hope & Healing Foundation.
