Barry R. Allen, 60, passed away peacefully April 3, 2008 at his home in Queen Creek, AZ., surrounded by his loving family. Barry was born to Margaret (Razier) and Percy Allen on October 8, 1947 in Long Beach, CA. He moved to Phoenix, AZ., with his parents in 1952.
He honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps 1967 - 1968. Barry joined the Phoenix Fire Department (PFD) in 1975 and was an exceptionally dedicated Firefighter and Fire Engineer for 32 years. Barry married the love of his life, Brenda Dwyer, in 1988. Barry always had a soft spot in his heart for animals, especially his Labrador Retrievers and his silly Arabian horse, Willie. Barry leaves behind his loving wife of 20 years, Brenda Dwyer Allen, his adored son Gabriel, daughter-in-law Orlainna and 3 grandchildren, Duncan, Olivia and Rowan Allen of San Diego, CA; and stepdaughter Tamara Shattuck. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Percy A. Allen and Margaret R. Allen. Barry will be greatly missed by his family, friends and menagerie of animals. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 7, 2008 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, followed by a Funeral Service celebrating his life. A reception immediately following the service at the Funeral Home. Private interment on Tuesday, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
