"FLINT GEORGE D. Manufacturer of Pork and Flour Barrels, Butter Firkins and Tubs, Churns, in fact, all kinds of Cooperage, upper part of Franklin St.; employs 60 hands, on an average. Was born in Medina Co., Ohio, April 11, 1847. In 1861, he immigrated to Steuben Co., Ind., where, in 1864, he enlisted in Co. G, 44th Ind. V. I., serving nearly two years. Came from the army to this Co. Sept. 23, 1865; two years ago he bought his present shop. Married Martha Stephens Sept. 7, 1868, who was born in Tamaqua, Schuylkill Co., Pa., Nov. 28, 1851, and came with her parents to this Co. in 1855."

In 1861, George Daniel Flint immigrated to Steuben Co., Ind., where, in 1864 George enlisted in Company G 44th IND INF-11 March 1864 and mustered out on 14 Sep 1865 after serving nearly two years. The companies of the 44th Regiment were raised from the 10th Congressional district. They organized at Fort Wayne on October 24,1861 under Col. Hugh B. Reed.

Mattie came to Delaware County with her parents in 1855.

George D. Flint, of Co. G, recruited man enrolled Feb. 29, 1864 in Kendallville by Capt. Iddings as a Private; mustered in Mar. 11, 1864 in Indianapolis by Lt. Douglass at age 18. He was 5' 8" tall, dark complexion, grey eyes, and dark hair. Born in Cuyahoga Co., OH, employed as a farmer, single, resident of York Center, in Steuben Co., IN. Mustered out at the end of the war Sep. 14, 1865 in Nashville, TN with rank of Private.

Notes: Retained 1 rifle, paying $6. He filed Invalid Pension Application to receive Pension Certificate #786946 Jun. 8, 1891, in WI. On 1910 Taylor Co., IA census and 1920 Osceola Co., FL censuses.

Died Jun. 30, 1927 in Saint Cloud, Osceola Co., FL; buried in Mt. Peace Cemetery, A-85, there. Martha A. filed Widows Pension Application #1585493 Jul. 7, 1927, in FL.
