Funeral services for Carl M. Evans, Sr., 76, of Delhi, LA were held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 31, 2008 at Robinson Baptist Church, Dunn, LA with Reverend Clyde Piercy officiating. Interment followed in Sunflower Cemetery, Baskin, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home in Rayville.

Mr. Evans was born on September 23, 1931 in Delhi and passed away on Friday, March 28, 2008 at St. Francis Specialty Hospital in Monroe.

He was an Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was injured while rescuing a pilot from an airplane that had crashed landed on the Air Force base. That injury led to the destruction of his kidneys. In 1999, he went on kidney dialysis and he continued to dialyze until his death.

Mr. Evans was a member of Robinson Baptist Church. He completed his high school and graduated from Faith Bible College in 2007. He was a devoted father and husband. He worked for Bellsouth Telephone Co. for 28 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sarah Evans; great granddaughter, Jocyln Turnbow; brother, Bill Evans; sisters, Joann Durr and Louise Evans.

Survivors include his Wife of 32 years, Danette Brown Evans of Delhi; 6-Daughters, Wanda Kay Brown of West Monroe, Selia Kay Frasier and husband, Phillip of Delhi, Glenda Gail Bumpurs of West Monroe, Earlene Elizabeth Watson and husband, Jeff of Birmingham, AL, Nancy Len Caudle and husband, Archie of Baskin, and Sonya Rena Haire of Monroe; 3-Sons, Carl Marvin Evans, Jr. and wife, Sue of Winnsboro, Sheldon Ray Evans and wife, Elizabeth of Delhi, and Danny LaWayne Evans and wife, Kristie of Delhi; 5-Sisters, Pansy Garner of West Monroe, Betty Graham of Delhi, Mary Ann Ford and husband, Randy of West Monroe, Gladys Cain and husband, Bob of West Monroe, and Viola Lucas and husband, Dwight of Delhi; 4-Brothers, Howard Evans and wife, Montiel of Delhi, Wayne Evans and wife, Patsy of Delhi, George Evans, Jr. and wife, Debora of Andalusia, Al, and Marvin Evans and wife, Naomi of Greenleaf, AL; 23-Grandchildren and 7-Great Grandchildren.
