"Buena Vista man buried Monday. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Humphery Funeral home in buena vista for Jacob Binkley Switzer, 71, pioneer resident of chaffee county, who died Sunday. The Rev. William Shelby, pastor of the community church, officiated at the funeral. Miss Anabel Stevens and Virginia and Bonnie Turner sang "Nearer My God to Thee", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "When the Roll is Called Up There I Will be There". The pallbearers were M. J. Tornkins, Ed Murtie, Mr. Mobley, L. E. Shedahl, H. C. McLean and George Breithaupt. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Mr. Switzer was born Sept. 2, 1872. He had een a resident of Colorado since 1895. He was married in Buena Vista in 1897 to Amanda Ellen Griffith. The couple had one son, Edgar Switzer, of Glenwood Springs. Mr. Switzer operated a store at Buena vista from 1898 to 1901 when he sold out and bought a ranch in Free Golf Valley where he engaged in farming and ranching until 1926. Besides his son, he is survivied by two sisters, Mrs. Tom Parks of Sunnyside, Wash, and Mrs. Mary Wilson, seven grandchildren and hosts of friends."
