John Michael Flannagan Jr., 42 of Roanoke, VA. Passed away on Saturday August 5, 2023 after suffering cardiac arrest at home. John was a father of three sons, an uncle, a brother, a son, a lover of life, and an explorer. He never met a stranger and there was always a story to tell, a smile to be had and a new friend to make. His life was full of creativity from an early age with his love of sports and art. John was an incredible soccer player, playing travel and high school soccer as a goalie. He attended VCU following in his passion for the arts: majoring in interior architect with additional training at London AIU, San Francisco School of Arts and Dallas school of Arts. John was a big dreamer and fierce lover of his people and his passions. He lived life on his terms and not many people can say that and was fortunate to chase his dreams until the end. He had always aspired to open a Restaurant and Night Club and he fulfilled that dream in May of 2023 by helping to open, promote and manage Status Restaurant and Lounge. He is survived by his sons Blake Hales of Temple, GA., Jack Flannagan III of Roanoke, VA., and Camden Flannagan of Forest, VA., his mother Debbie Flannagan, his sister Hunter Johnston (Andy) and his nephews Grayson and Walker Johnston; as well as numerous family members and friends who he touched throughout his life. He is preceded in death by his father John Michael Flannagan Sr., his grandparents William H. Flannagan Sr. and Kathryn M. Flannagan, Elmer Padgett and Helen Padgett and his aunt Sherry Moore. A celebration of life will be held at the Second Presbyterian Church, 214 Mountain Ave Roanoke, VA on Monday August 21st at 11:00 am. The family will receive visitors in the Fellowship Hall Immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Angels of Assisi.
