With profound sadness, we announce the quiet passing of Florence Mary Bloskie-Murray on August 6th, 2023, at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto.
Beloved mother of Joey (Christine), Alice, and Stuart (d. 2019). Beloved Oma of Laura, Josiah, Michael, Mikayla, John, and Lux.
Florence was the second youngest daughter of Frank Bloski and Johanna Czapla. She was predeceased by her brothers Marion, Florian, Seaforth, Tommy, and Freddie, and by her sisters Mary-Josie, Martha, Adonia, Jackie, Frances, and Gina. She is survived by her very good friend, Rowena, and by her many loving nieces and nephews.
Florence was born in Barry's Bay ON in 1940. She moved to Toronto in her late teens to raise her family and to continue her schooling through correspondence courses. Florence was energetic and talented. She made clothes for her three children, volunteered at a local daycare, worked as a librarian's assistant at Parliament Street Library, sang in St. Paul's Choir, wrote poetry, and taught herself piano. She studied at the Ontario College of Arts and was a prolific landscape and still life artist. In her later years, she especially loved cycling and swimming, and spending time with her youngest son, Stuie.
The family is grateful to St. Michael's Hospital for their encouragement, compassion, and kindnesses while caring for Florence.
Donations in memory of Florence can be made to St. Michael's Foundation.
