James was the son of Jack and Fanny Gray.

James B. Gray, 87, who had been making his home in Mexico with a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Jones, died Friday at the Callaway Memorial Hospital in Fulton.

He was born March 19, 1880, at Guthrie in Callaway county and lived there most of his life. He had made his home with a daughter here for five years before entering Riverside Nursing Home at Mokane last August.

Services were conducted Monday at the Browning Funeral Home in Fulton. Interment was in Prospect Cemetery at New Bloomfield with the following as pallbearers:
Ken and Fred Jones of Mexico, Randy and Rodger Thompson of Jefferson City, Leroy Bishop of Colorado and Jackie Snow of Holt Summit.

Mr. Gray, a retired farmer, was a veteran of World War I during which he served in France and Germany.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha, who makes her home with sons in Columbia due to poor health; eight daughters, Mrs. Jones of Mexico, Mrs. Myrtle Copeland of Arizona, Mrs. Lorene Walters, Mrs. Irene Thompson and Mrs. Margaret Janssen of Jefferson City, Mrs. Bonnie Bishop of Colorado, Mrs. Jessie Snow of Holt Summit, Mrs. Dorothy Farmer of Moberly; five sons, John W. Gray of Michigan, Joseph E. and Robert E. Gray of Columbia, Paul E. Gray of New Bloomfield and James A. Gray of St. Thomas; a brother, Robert Guy Gray of Kansas City; a nephew, Edwin Gray of Kansas; 32 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren
