She shares a tombstone with her mother as her father died of pneumonia at age 52. A military memorial stone for her father was placed next their graves in Bethlehem because Samantha's mother had buried her husband in the Kyser family cemetery in Alabama, marked the top of the grave with a layer of carefully placed brick and a proper headstone, and then moved to Texas with all of her children. Nearly a century later, the graves in the Kyser family cemetery was bull-dozed off into a nearby gully by a landowner.
