Bennie Lee Johnson age 34, was the victim of a head on collision between his car and a truck on Little McFarland Hill in the Vernon Community.

He was the son of Sammie Johnson and Bertha Irene Davis Johnson and the husband of Mertie Ann Murphy Johnson. Bennie Lee was the grandson of Benjamin Cooley Johnson and Cora Ada Williams Johnson buried in the Williams Cemetery on Pea Ridge in Clay County, Tennessee. Bennie Lee was also the grandson of James Lee Davis and Mariah Freelove "Lovie" Green Davis buried at Crossroads Cemetery on Pea Ridge in Clay County, Tennessee.

Bennie Lee was survived also by two children, Barbara Faith Johnson and Mitchell Lee Johnson, and one sister, Beulah Elise McLerran.

Cpl Bennie Lee Johnson served in the United States Army during the Korean War .

Burial was in the Bailey Cemetery.
