Ella Ruth Summer Yochem, 98, of Greenwood, widow of Harry D. Yochem, died Friday, August 4, 2023.

Born in Lexington County, she was the daughter of the late John Daniel and Minnie Ola Rister Summer. She was a seamstress with Greenwood Industries (Nantex) and was a member of Lowell Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Cheerful Workers Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her children, Larry Yochem (Betty) of Ninety Six, Linda Yochem Sauerwein (Tom Henry) of Abbeville, and Patsy Yochem Hannah (David) of Greenwood; grandchildren, Amy Suit (Sidney), Ken Harbin (Heather), Keith Harbin (Lori), Marcus Moeller (Liz) and Kristen Perkinson (Bernardo); great grandchildren, Meagan Smith, Kenny Harbin, Kameron Harbin, Keaton Harbin, Kelton Harbin, Emma Moeller, Ella Moeller, Lillie Moeller, Matthew Perkinson and Jacob Perkinson; seven great great grandchildren and one on the way.

She was the last living member of her immediate family and is also preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Yochem.

Services will be at 12:00 noon on Monday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Viki M. Hydrick officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont for the loving care and kindness shown to Ruth and her family.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Linda, in Abbeville.
