Alcario Melendez, 66, passed away May 2, 2005. He was born in Sabinal, N.M. on Oct. 21, 1938 and resided in Barstow for 63 years. He retired in 1992 from Marine Corps Logistics Base. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Jesus; brother, Manuel; and nephew, Marcus Melendez. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; and six daughters, Martha Ceniceros of Fort Jones, Joyce Swope of Lubbock, Texas, Audrey Oden of Bosque, N.M., Samantha, Alexandra (Alexie) and Santana Peralta of Hinkley; his mother, Florencia; brother, Alfonso Melendez; and sisters, Felicitas Peralta, Candilida Cordova of Barstow, and Dulces Estrada of San Bernardino. He will be sadly missed by more than 40 nephews and nieces and their families, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Affectionately called Papo, he loved his family and friends.
