Mildred S. Reape, 105, formerly of Lanpher Street, died Wednesday morning February 6, 2008 at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville.
Mrs. Reape lived alone in her own home on Lanpher Street until September, 2007, upon entering the nursing home after breaking her ankle at home.
A Funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, February 9, 2007 at 11:00 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Lowville, with Rev. Timothy J. Soucy, pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in the Lowville Rural Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2008 at the Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville. A gathering at St. Peter's Catholic Church Parish Hall will follow the Funeral Mass. Contributions may be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church, 5457 Shady Ave., Lowville, NY 13367.
She is survived by a son and his wife, George A. and Margaret Reape of Lowville and Largo, Florida, a son Harold R. Reape of Glenfield and his companion Kathryn Marmon of Lyons Falls; a daughter Charlette Bennett of Utica; a son-in-law, Joseph Rozanski, Jr. of Lowville; a sister-in-law, Laura Reed, 101, a resident at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ann Rozanski who died June, 1994; a daughter-in-law, Patty Reape; a son-in-law, Peter Bennett; a brother, Lawrence Strife; eight sisters, Verna Strife, Goldie Boliver, Agnes Virkler, Ione Maciejko, Mabel Elliott, Gladys Haley, Mary Greulich, Angelina Barker.
Mrs. Reape was born on January 7, 1903 in the Town of Martinsburg, NY, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Terrillion Strife. She attended rural school district #15 on the Flat Rock Road. On June 20, 1928, she married George A. Reape at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Lowville with Rev. Richard Harold OFM, officiating. Together with her husband, the couple owned and operated the family dairy farm on the Rector Road from 1928-1970, upon selling the farm to their son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Patty Reape. The couple moved to Lanpher Street in 1975. Mr. Reape died on November 22, 1982.
She was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Lowville and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at the church. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.
