COTTON VALLEY, LA. Services for Dr. John E. Carkeet, 45, of Cotton Valley, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday April 24 at the First Baptist Church of Cotton Valley. The Rev. Kenneth Everett, the Rev. George Carkeet and Dr. Charles Harvey, will officiate. Graveside service at 1 p.m. Frldav at Forest Park Cemeterv In Houston, Texas under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, La. Dr. Carkeet died Tuesday April 22, 1986, at Schumpert Medical Center In Shreveport after a long Illness.
He was born In Houston, Texas and had been a resident of Cotton Valley for eight vears. Dr. Carkeet was the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Cotton Valley and was the past president of the Pastors Conference of the Webster Association. He is survived bv his wife, Delores Carkeet, one son, John E. Carkeet II and one daughter.
Rose Lena Carkeet, all of Cotton Valley; two sisters, Betty Joe Dodge of Lubbock, Texas and Charlotte Ann Hume of Houston, Texas; one brother, Rev. George Carkeet of Lubbock, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be deacons of the First Baptist Church of Cotton Valley: Kendall Corr, Leon Brlnklev, Guv Al-lums, Jack Mavnor, DeWayne Stanley, Lane Hedrick, Sherman Vogel, Don Wallace, Herman Elliott, King Gray, Marlon Pope, Tullos Brumley and Gene Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers: J.T. Lash and Rovce Graham.
