Marvin Lawrence Drewel

April 15, 1944 - July 30, 2023

Marvin Lawrence Drewel of Union, MO departed this life in San Antonio, TX on Sunday, July 30, 2023, having reached the age of seventy-nine years, three months and fifteen days. Marvin was born in Bland, MO on April 15, 1944, son of Henry A. Drewel and Anna B. Drewel nee Givan. Marvin married the love of his life Carol Sue Courtaway on May 8, 1971, and one son came to bless this union.


Marvin is survived by his wife Carol Sue Drewel nee Courtaway of Union, MO; by one son Michael Drewel Sr. and wife, Marcie, of Boerne, TX; by two grandchildren Michael Drewel Jr. and wife Christi of Dallas, TX and Mikaela Drewel of Logan, UT; by siblings Winferd "Buck" Drewel and wife Erma of Belle, MO, Velma Malaway of Lemay, MO, Doris Schneidewind of Owensville, MO, Edna Weatherford of Gerald, MO, and Charles Drewel and wife Beverly of Owensville, MO; and by many brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.


Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna Drewel; by siblings Norma Garver, Melba Drewel, Elmer "Bunny" Drewel and Alma Bauer.


Marvin was a Christian believing in the Lord as his Savior. After graduating high school, he was proud to have served his country in the United States Army. During his working career he was employed at Stupp Brothers Bridge and Iron in Lemay, MO for 20 years, then after retiring he worked in the Social Security office in Union, MO and part time for the Washington School District as a custodian. He enjoyed gardening and giving away the fruits of his labor to family and friends. He loved to attend Bluegrass and Christian music festivals, spending time in Branson and other music destinations. What meant the most to him was the time he spent with his family, the love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all.


A kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, great-great uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.


Visitation for the immediate family and his brother and sisters will be held 4:00PM Friday August 11th at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.

Additional visitation for all family and friends will continue starting at 5:00PM Friday Aug 11th.


Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Pastor Rob Stacy officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in Liberty Cemetery in Belle, MO. The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
