His Pension record gives date of death. DIed of liver disease. It says he was buried in Creswell. His son, Henderson's death record says he was buried in Family Cemetery, therefore it is logical that John Armistead Clifton would have been buried as close to his farm. Date of birth from pension. He was 5'6", light complexition, brown hair, blue eyes. His pension said he got rheumatism and erysipelas on his face from the war. Co. L was on march to Tarboro. They were exposed to a fierce snow storms surrounded by the enemy. Upon his return to Newport Barracks he saw doctor. He was hospitalized Carolina City, Morehead, NC with pain in shoulder.
