Peacefully and with great sadness in Port Elgin, on Friday, July 30th, 2010, in his 90th year, Bob Appell. Predeceased by his wife Marie. Loving father of Melvin (Marie- Anne) and David (Lisa). Grandfather of Andrew and Shayla. Great- grandfather of Clay. Predeceased by his daughter Dianne and his brother Jack. Bob was an investment dealer for 31 years, as branch manager Kitchener, for Walwyn. Bob served in WWII with the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, and was seriously wounded in Germany, in April 1945. Active in K-W affairs, Bob was Past President of K-W Kiwanis, K-W Sales & Ad Club, K-W Granite Curling Club, and Investment Dealers of K-W. He was a Kitchener school trustee for five years. Also Past President of the Saugeen Shores Probus Club. Bob was a curler and a golfer for 70 years. He also enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips. Bob was an avid bridge player. At his passing he was a member of Probus, the Royal Canadian Legion, Port Elgin United Church, and Westmount Golf Club.
Friends will be received at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill St. Port Elgin on Saturday, August 7th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Johnston officiating.
Memorial contributions to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Port Elgin United Church would be appreciated by the family.
