Violet was an excellent seamstress and made clothes for all of her daughters. She also made clothes for her sisters and others in the community. While Violet was raising her children she always maintained a large garden that she fed her family with. She loved working in the garden and canning the vegetables she raised. She worked at the Union Bank in the housekeeping department and also the Renova Shirt Factory for many years until her retirement. Afterwards she enjoyed volunteering at Louise Durham Elementary School in the Foster Grandparent program.
