"JEFFRIES -- In Oakdale, August 27, 1967, John M. Jeffries. Dearly beloved father of Mrs. Viola Terrill of Riverbank and Joseph R. Jeffries of Denair. Brother of Mrs. Virginia Leedy of Missouri, Mrs. Mollie Frost and Mrs. Rosie Frost, both of Turlock, Isaac Jeffries, Joseph Jeffries and Jim Jeffries, all of Missouri, and Lewis Jeffries of Sacramento. Also survived by three grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A native of Missouri aged 86 years. Final rites will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Riverbank Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Lakewood Memorial Park." The Modesto Bee (Modesto, California), August 29, 1967
