She was a member of Dyersburg First Baptist Church. Mrs. Bessent, the widow of James H. Bessent, leaves two daughters, Susan Veal of Dyersburg and Kathy Morse of Franklin; a son, David Bessent of Dyersburg; a sister, Maxine Pate of North Little Rock; a brother, Harry Brewer of Dyersburg, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband; a son, Don Bessent; and her parents Douglas and Floy Elizabeth Brewer
