Eva Sides

August 15, 1911 – March 28, 2008

Eva Sides died at the age of 96 on March 28, 2008 at Manor Oaks Nursing Center in Rockdale. She was born to Melvin Weems and Ellie (Moore) Weems on August 15, 1911 in Cameron, Texas and lived most of her life in Rockdale.

She was a graduate of Rockdale High School and a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. after years as a telephone operator.

She married Marvin Sides on January 22, 1982 in Rockdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Forrest B. Randle, Jr. on February 4, 1975; three brothers, T.D. "Demp" Weems, M.D. "Denson" Weems, "T.A." Weems; and two sisters, Lillyan Weems and Zelma "Brucie" Curlee.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Sides of Rockdale; son, James B. Sides and daughter-in-law, Rosie of San Antonio; brother, Jack Weems of West Columbia; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five nephews; seven nieces; and numerous great-nephews and nieces.

Services were held on March 31, 2008 at Phillips and Lucky Chapel in Rockdale with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Rev. Chuck Salmon presided.

Pall bearers were: Ted Weems, John Fishero, Steve Weems, James Sides, James Weems, George Weems, Sonny Curlee, Marvin "Bubba" Curlee and Jimmy Sides.

Memorials may be sent to Forest Grove Christian Church in Rockdale.
