Mrs. MARY ADELINE (CULBERSON) BADGETT was the daughter of Rev. David Browning Culberson Jr. and Mrs. Lucy Ann (Wilkinson) Culberson.

She married again to Alfred Badgett on November 2, 1852 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

Excerpt from the History of "The Badgett Family" ---
In 1856, Alfred Badgett, born in Rockingham, North Carolina, and his wife, Mary Adeline Culberson, came overland from Alabama to Texas with a number of other families in a wagon train and settled in Jefferson, Texas. Their older son, William Francis Badgett, was three years old, and James David Badgett, hardly a year old. A daughter, Mary Adeline Badgett, was born in 1857. Another daughter, Lucy Judson Badgett, died at age thirteen in 1860, according to records available. Alfred Badgett died in Jefferson in 1866. A Masonic marker is on his tombstone in Oakwood Cemetery."

By 1860, their family was residing in Marion County, Texas.

To their union, 4 children were born. Their known children were ---

William Francis "W.F." Badgett
James David Badgett
Mary "Addie" Adeline Badgett
Lucy Judson Badgett

Her husband preceded her in death.

Death Announcement
"Died ---
Mrs. M. A. Badgett, mother of Mrs. Addie Alford, died at her home in Jefferson yesterday evening at 6 o'clock, and will be buried tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock."

The funeral services were conducted from the family home of her son, James David Badgett.

Burial was made in Oakwood Cemetery in Jefferson.

- Miss Mary Adeline Culberson was previously married to Thomas W. Lanier whom she wed on September 2, 1841 in Chambers County, Alabama. Her husband, Mr. Lanier, preceded her in death. To their union, a son, Thomas M. Lanier, was born. By the 1870's, their son was living in Louisiana USA.
- As reported in the 1900 census, Mary was the mother of 5 children of which four of them were still living.
