Mary E. Groff, 71, of 312 W. Fifth St., Quarryville, died Thursday morning at Community Hospital of Lancaster after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Victor Groff and the late Orion Carter. Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Myers Adams. She attended Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church. Surviving are four sons, Orion E. Carter and Robert G. Carter both of Lancaster, William E. Carter of Birmingham, Ala., and Glenn Carter of Conowingo, Md.; a daughter, Mary E. Brown of Charlestown, Md.; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin I. Adams of Willow Street and Carl M. Adams of New Providence; and two sisters, Anna I. Evans of Lancaster and Jean L. Keller of New Providence. Lancaster New Era - Aug 4, 1995.
