Gladys Coffman Knight, 76, died early this morning, July 19,1974, at the Oak Ridge (TN) Hospital of heart failure following a brief illness. She was the daughter of Thomas C. and Clara Moon Coffman. She grew up in Barry, Pike Co., Ill.
Following the death of her husband, Dr. E. B. Knight, in 1965, Mrs. Knight moved from Cookeville, TN to live near her daughter in the Solway community. She was a member of the Burchfield Garden Club and a avid bird watcher. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Corinne (Al) Palko, and a son, Keith Knight of Grand Rapids, MI. Grandchildren are Elaine (Robert) Patterson, Lindenwold, N.J., David Palko of Atlanta, and Diane, Bill, Tom and Patti Palko living at home; Jean (Douglas) Fitch and Martha Knight of Michigan. Great grandchildren are Michelle Fitch in Michigan and Heidi Patterson of N.J. Mrs. Knight is also survived by a brother, Clarence Coffman, Barry, Ill. A sister, Roberta Strubinger is deceased.
The body will be taken to Cookeville on Monday for graveside services at 2 p.m. in Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Martin's Funeral Home. The family suggests that any memorials be in the form of gifts to the E. B. Knight Memorial Agricultural Scholarship Fund at the Tennessee Technological University in her name.
