7th U.S. Cavalry-Company K. Served under General George Armstrong Custer. Enlisted on March 21, 1876, at age 28, in St. Louis, by Lt. John Thompson. Hazel eyes, black hair, dark complexion, 5'51/2" tall. Occupation listed as laborer. Not present at Battle of Little Big Horn. Listed on detached service from June 15, 1876, at Yellowstone Depot. Wounded in head on September 30, 1877 at the Battle of Snake Creek in fight against Chief Joseph's band of Nez Perce Indians. Married Molly Huber on September 13, 1882. Children- Emil(June 8, 1883-June12, 1895); Bettie (Dec. 23, 1884- Dec. 30, 1973); Adolph (Dec. 3, 1886); and Selma (August 20, 1890). Died near Eddy, Texas, on February 12, 1917. Wife Molly died on July 15, 1930. Molly's name listed as Mary on tombstone and death listed as June 5, 1930.
