BLOUGH - Dr. Dalton G., 94, Richland, passed away on July 25, 2023 at Laurel View Village, Davidsville. Born December 12, 1928, in Johnstown, son of E. Grant and Olive (Koontz) Blough. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Marjorie (Platt) and sister, Ruth Opel. Survived daughters, Judy Nutwell and husband Joe, Hendersonville, NC and Susan Gabriel and husband Joe, Bedford; sons, Randy Blough and wife, Jen, Alta, WY and Mark Blough and wife, Suzanne, Highland Heights, OH; grandchildren, Andrew (Stacy) Collins, Bryan (Samantha) Collins, Jonathan (Kate) Gabriel, Nathan Gabriel, Dalton Blough, Jocelyn Blough and Jeremy Blough; great-grandchildren, Jackson Collins and Reagan Collins. Dr. Blough was a 1946 graduate of Ferndale High School, attended Juniata College in their Pre-Dental program and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry in 1952. He graduated from the University of Illinois School of Orthodontics in 1956. He received his Masters and Post Doctoral degrees from the University of Pittsburgh Department of Speech in 1966. He founded Allegheny Orthodontics and practiced there with Dr. Faber Little and Dr. Scott Little until 1991. He was a member of the Cambria County Dental Society and was president of the society in 1965. Member of the Southern District Dental Society where he was its president in 1971. He was also a member of American Association of Orthodontics until he retired. Dr. Blough was a member of the dental staff of Memorial Hospital, Lee Hospital and was President of the Children's Hospital dental staff in 1971. His faculty affiliation was with the University of Pittsburgh Department of Orthodontics from 1972-1974. He was a US Army veteran where he served as a 1st Lieutenant. He served his internship at Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio, Texas in 1953 and was a staff dental officer at Fort Lewis, Washington in 1954. Member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Richland where he served on church council and on the Property and Sacred Ministry Committee. After retirement, he traveled to hurricane recovery sites, took part in church mission projects and worked with the local Habitat for Humanity group. He later spent several years in Englewood, Florida. He enjoyed time with friends and family at his cottage in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. Dr. Blough enjoyed snow skiing, fishing and assisting with handyman projects at churches, his former dental office and for friends and family at their homes. His sense of humor brought levity and joy to those he met and knew. When you left his presence, you left with a smile and warmth in your heart. He loved to help others, had a kind heart and was a devout Christian who shared the love of God with all. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Richland, with Claudia Plows officiating. Private Inurnment at Richland Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Menoher VFW Post #155 ritual team. The family suggests memorial contributions to Mt.
