William served in the South Africa Was as Private 1546. He enlisted from Hawk;es Bay and left on the Monowai 20 March 1900 with the 4th Contingent, No 10 Company, NZ Mounted Rifles. His next of ken was his father Francis Terrill

William served in WWI as Corporal 10/4493with the 11th Reinforcements, Wellington Infantry Batalion, B Company, NZEF. He embarked from Wellington 1 April 1916. His next of kin was wife Mrs M. Terrill c/o Mrs Blair, Queen Street, Masterton. Mary died in Masterton 5 months later

Mrs W. A. Terrill, wife of Corporal Terrill, who is on active service, died in the Masterton Hospital on Monday after a severe illness. The deceased lady formerly resided at Blenheim. She was 33 years of age and leaves three little daughters.
