Scott was active in athletics when he was younger and continued his involvement by attending sporting events for his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings; and grandson, Jeremy Smeltzer.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Gloria Jean (Mort) Smeltzer; children, Laura (Terry) VanderMeer, David (Leslie) Smeltzer, Gail (Vance) Bigley, Larry (Alison) Smeltzer, Jerry (Ginger) Smeltzer, and Kathy (Jeff) McDaniel; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place, and Scott will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery in Comstock.
