Funeral services for Edward A. Durband, 73, were held Saturday, April 7 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church here. Rt. Rev. Msgr. F.P. Schiltes officiated and burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mr. Durband died Wednesday, April 4 at Floyd Valley hospital, Le Mars. He had been in failing health for some time and had entered the hospital three weeks ago.
He was born March 20, 1900 at Struble, Iowa, the son of the late Ed and Katherine Durband. He lived near Hull, Iowa for seven years, later lived near Le Mars and moved to Remsen in 1971. He was a retired farmer.
His marriage to Mary Curtis took place February 21, 1927 at Hull.
Surviving are his wife Mary of Remsen; three sons, James of Hull, Iowa, Joseph of Cleghorn, Iowa and Thomas of Dixon, Illinois; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Mary) Gengler of Remsen; 17 grandchildren and a sister, Hyacinth Durband of Hollywood, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and a son Earl who died March 1, 1973.
Pallbearers were William Berkenpas, Kenneth Klave, Arvin Scheitler, Leonard Weber, Arthur Meis and Hollias Wills. The Fisch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
