Jim, 96, passed away at his home.

He was the son of Russell and Alvina (Kremelbeck) Birt. On Dec 12, 1945, he married his high school sweetheart, Rita Schell, who survives in Celina.

Also surviving are five children: Larry Birt, Celina, Beverly (Joe) Sutter, Kingman, AZ, Deborah (Bruce) Campbell, Mt. Gilead, Vickie (David Conn) Hottes, Vancouver, Canada, and Sandy Sutter, Celina; a sister, Myra Weddle, Rockford; a sister-in-law, Doris Birt, St. Henry; and nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a son-in-law, Steve Sutter; a brother linked below; and brother-in-law, Ronald Weddle.

A veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Pacific during WWII, he was a former member of the Irish Settlement Church. He was retired from Pet Milk Co. and his own company, Ace Radiator Repair. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW and American Legion.
