Shirley's father, Charles Edwin Reeve, owned a wholesale and meat retail business in Hopkinton, Iowa. At one time Charles was the mayor of Hopkington and served on the Board of Trustees of Lenox College. (Lenox College was closed a long time ago). It was at Lenox College where Shirley met Bertha. Shirley was a school teacher and prior to his marriage to Bertha, he taught at the West Union, Iowa High School. After their marriage, Shirley and Bertha both taught a few more years in Iowa schools before moving east. Shirley was the owner and operator of Reeve Coal and Building Supply Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After Bertha died, Shirley married Hilda Schneider in April of 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland. After retiring, in 1962 they moved to Dunedin, Florida where he passed away in 1975. Note: A granddaughter stated in the 1980's, that he was buried in the Moss Dunedin Chapel Cemetery in Dunedin, Florida and not in Pennsylvania with Bertha.
