Johnny Buchfink, Jr.

Johnny was born November 7, 1933, in Hillsboro, KS, to John Buchfink and Lenora (Hildebrand) Buchfink. He passed away July 13, 2023, in Owasso, OK.

Johnny attended Collinsville Schools for all 12 years, graduating in 1952. After high school, he worked several odd jobs around Collinsville doing general labor. Johnny also tried a job in the Gulf of Mexico on an oil rig, but he didn't stay long, deciding that was not for him. At age 21, Johnny joined the Army and spent the next 2 years in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina as a cook. After leaving the Army, Johnny had many jobs, but the most notable ones were at the Western Auto Store in Collinsville as a general clerk for about 10 years and the Verdigris Valley Electric Cooperative where he retired as an accountant. He was also a proud member of the American Legion, Post 1 of Tulsa. Johnny did not have children, but proudly loved all of his nieces and nephews and their families.

He is survived by his brothers, Charles Buchfink, Dale Buchfink, and Daniel Buchfink; sister, Helen (Buchfink) Hamblin; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Buchfink, Sr. and Lenora Buchfink; sisters, Betty (Buchfink) Clow of Owasso, and Norma (Buchfink) Sappington of Catoosa; brothers, Theodore Buchfink of Catoosa, Marvin Buchfink of Oologah, Harry Buchfink of Broken Arrow, and Richard Buchfink of Howe.

Memorial services for Johnny Buchfink, Jr., 89, of Tulsa, OK, were held Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Phil Johnson, Grady Gaylord and Reverend Charla Gwartney officiated, and burial was in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, OK.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
