Dwight F. Carter, 91, died on Friday, March 28, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Dwight was born in Alexandria, NE and lived in Pueblo, CO as a youth. He served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force during WWII in the European Theatre of Operations. After the war he worked as a Packard automobile dealer in Sterling, IL. He moved to Des Moines in 1955 and was a national account salesman for a leading garage door manufacturer. Dwight's hobbies included antique automobiles and researching family genealogy.

Dwight was preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia (Jim) Ludden and granddaughter April Ludden. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeanne; two daughters, Candace (Joe) Saluri of Des Moines and Carol (Ted) Ward of Winterset; three sons Bud (Mary Ann) of Prior Lake, MN, Dwayne (Pam) and David "Buck" (Jay) Carter of Des Moines; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 31 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (2926 Beaver Ave.) Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday evening with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Care in Clive. Burial will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his church.
