He and his wife Nancy Livingston, migrated to the South Woods, around Long Eddy and Rocky Valley, in about 1850. He lived on Biedekapp Hill in Rock Valley, and, after his wife died at 50, he went to live with his daughter and son-in-law down near Long Eddy. They all later moved back up nearer to Goulds.
He is a frequently mentioned character in local history, and had many children, some of whom died at an early age. Abram is buried alongside his children in the Red School House Cemetery,on Sullivan County, Route 134 between Rock Valley and Long Eddy. He is remembered as one of the early settlers of the lower Basket Brook area.
